NYE Plans and Parties

There is always pressure around making NYEs the best night out of the year. You want to ring in the new year on a high, surrounded by friends at a good bar. Let me help you take the pressure out of planning where your group is going and give you a lineup of all the events on my side of the river at my personally approved joints.

State Park – Y2K MTV Video Music Awards Party

I attended State Parks Alien themed NYE party last year, my favorite parts were equally the Champagne of Beers (Miller High Life) toast at Midnight and the photo booth. I stumbled upon the photo booth pictures this morning and will keep them forever, but tucked away in a drawer so no one else will ever see them. This year the party is Y2K MTV Video Music Awards themed, pull out your Lady Gaga meat dress. Tickets are $25 and include a buffet of snacking food, midnight Champagne of Beers toast, a step and repeat photo-op and music all night.

Aeronaut Brewery– Prom Night

Aeronaut is hosting a NYE Prom, time to get on TikTok and learn how the highschoolers are doing promposals these days, a guitar moment is always bold. Tickets are $25 and include a champagne toast at midnight and a commemorative champagne flute to take home. There will be a DJ all night and a prom king and queen will be crowned. If you are like me and were not crowned 8yrs ago now is your time.

Wusong Road

Wusong road although not having a formal NYE party is staying open into the New Year and having a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Wusong road has some of the best cocktails in Camberville and great American Chinese food made for sharing. I recommend the Breath of the Dragon cocktail and the Dan Dan Mian noodles.

Lamplighter – Drag Extravaganza or PJ party

Both of Lamplighters Cambridge locations are offering NYE parties. The Cambridge crossing location is having a Drag Extravaganza with performances all night and a dance floor. The Broadway location is having a PJ party, New Year, Same Jammies. The party includes games, dancing and a best dressed competition. Tickets are $25 for both parties.

The Burren

With the Tufts students away on break now is our opportunity to go back to the Burren. The floors will still be sticky, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There will be music all night with the Ezekiel’s Wheels starting in the front room at 7pm and Beacon Street Band in the backroom starting at 10pm.

Trina’s Starlight Lounge

I ended my NYE night here last year and plan on spending a majority of my night here this year. Trina’s is everyone’s neighborhood bar! No ticket needed, there will be a DJ all night and most likely a disco ball. Don’t forget to try a Somerville Sunset while you are there!

My plans this year involve me inviting myself over to my only, and favorite, married couple friend’s apartment for cocktails. Followed by dancing at Trina’s Starlight Lounge until closing and ending my night eating McDonalds French Fries on my couch. Happy New Year!!!
